BOSCO SODI
Mexico 1970

Mixed media on canvas. 160 x 160 cm. (62,99 x 62,99 in) 2004. Signed and dated to the back. Provenance: Miguel Marcos Gallery, Barcelona (Spain)

Bosco Sodi focuses in the exploration of matter, the creative gesture and the spiritual connection between the artist and his work. Using different materials distinguished for its rawness such as seesaw, pigments, wood, natural fibres and resins, Sodi creates large scale paintings rich in texture. His practice has evolved to the field of sculpture where he works with volcanic rocks, earthenware, clay and gold resulting in the production of pieces with an anachronistic aesthetic.
Sodi’s artistic practice exploits  the areas in which nature and humanity combine and search for the implicit beauty in the uncontrollable. In his work, a deep sense of connection with the earth and the immediacy of the work of art prevails. As raw materials vary from place to place, each of Sodi’s pieces is related in a unique way to the place it was created in.
Bosco Sodi (Mexico City, 1970) lives and works in New York, USA and Puerto Escondido, Mexico. His work belongs to diverse public and private collections among Deutsche Bank Collection, IBM Building, Murderme, Jumex Collection and ESPAC.
In 2014, Bosco Sodi created Casa Wabi in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. Casa Wabi is a space for artists residencies socially committed with local communities. The project was made by architect Tadao Ando.
