I am interested in the expression of the stroke as calligraphy to create abstract scenarios in my works. The imprint of the brush strokes, the fluidity of the gestures, configure a language with its own color palette that defines my paintings. I studied architecture at the University of Valladolid, where I acquired a complete training in composition and color theory. In my university days I drew portraits and landscapes on a daily basis and I began to be attracted to contemporary art. At that time I was experimenting with concepts such as the density of light, the materiality of painting and little by little I became interested in aspects of the psyche, the sensations and feelings that images of the real world provoke in us and how to represent them in an abstract way, not conditioned by the forms, to synthesize the emotional root of each one.
Living in different places, Almería, Cáceres, Madrid, Lisbon, London etc… has given me experiences and I have met very different people. All this has influenced my painting. I have always been in contact with art. I fell in love with Lisbon with its labyrinthine streets and its 7 hills, I was amazed with the graffiti of the city and the freedom of its people… London for me was chaotic, full of stimuli, I had the opportunity to attend art events in warehouses, public garages and all kinds of alternative places. I was able to see current art and interact with the artists themselves. In all these places I have always painted, developing the concepts that they transmitted to me.
The region of La Vera, its landscapes and its people influence me in a very special way. There I lived my adolescence, a decisive stage in my art. At that time I liked western and science fiction movies, cartoons, music, comics, video games, board games and all the creative atmosphere of the 90s. I travel with nostalgia to that period in my dream worlds, which they are for me intimate sensory universes. Each painting is a passage to another world in which all its elements are related to a certain feeling or sensation.
